Continuous

A space is said to be continuous if it can be divided indefinitely. In Newtonian Mechanics and Relativity -and in Quantum Field Theory- our space is treated as a continuum. Many physicists are now challenging that assumption, saying that a continuous space would entail infinite information in an infinitesimally small volume. In some new theories, such as Loop Quantum Gravity, space is not continuous anymore but discrete, made of tiny atoms of space.
